Christmas In Tyler County
The Christmas holiday is an exciting time to
visit Tyler County. While the county isn’t a
winter sports destination (it rarely snows,
even in December), there is still plenty to do
in and around Woodville. The big event in
early December is the annual Christmas In
Tyler County celebration. The two-day event
starts in Woodville on Friday night with the
annual Lighting of the Courthouse Square.
Santa makes his grand entrance that night,
and is given the key to the city. There are
vendors and merchants around the square
who stay open late for shopping. There are
also musical performances on the Square
and at the Emporium for the Arts.
The second day of Christmas in Tyler County begins with a Pan-
cake Breakfast. Visitors can also tour the Allan Shivers Library
and Museum, which is decked out for the occasion.

Heritage Village Museum is the place to be
Saturday night, with the annual Candlelight
Tour of the Village. There is no charge for the
event. The Village is decorated late 1800’s
style. There are always musical performances,
a church service, and lots of cookies and hot
wassail in the old Collier Store.
