         Corbin is a fourth-class city governed by a mayor and city commission. The town was incorporated in 1905, named after Rev.
       James Floyd Corbin. However, it was fi rst called Cummins, named after the community founder Nelson Cummins, but later the
       name was changed when it was discovered the name was already in use for a Kentucky Post Offi ce.
         About 80 percent of Corbin lies in Whitley
       County. The other 20 percent is in Knox County.
       The greater Corbin area has a population of ap-
       proximately 36,000 and also extends into Laurel
       County.
       Points of Interest for Corbin are—
       •Cumberland Falls State Resort Park, which
          produces mist from the falls that creates
          the only Moonbow in the Western Hemisphere.
       •Harland Sanders Café and Museum,
          the birthplace of Kentucky Fried Chicken
       •Sanders Park, downtown Corbin
       •The Corbin Arena, a multi-purpose venue
          with seating up to 6,800 people
       •Laurel River Lake, a popular recreational site for
          boating, fi shing, water skiing and scuba diving
       •The annual Nibroc Festival in the second week
          of August, featuring concessions,
          carnival, games, race, concerts and more.
