Nestled in the foothills of Daniel Boone Country, Williamsburg is the county seat of Whitley County. With endless trails
to explore, history to learn and sites to see, Williamsburg has it all - including the biggest waves in Kentucky, located at the
Kentucky Splash Waterpark. Williamsburg is

it be the Cumberland River, Cumberland Falls,
Lake Cumberland, or the University of the
Cumberlands.
Williamsburg became a town in 1818. From
about 1829 through the early 1870s, the town
was known as Whitley Courthouse by the U.S.
Post Office, but was also known as Williamsburg
in honor of William Whitley.
