If  you haven’t had the chance to ‘pack up a picnic lunch, jump in the car and search for

     historical markers’ well then, it’s good fun for the family and something interesting to do on a

      slow weekend. And just to help you out a bit, here’s a list of  the others and a hint in which
                                   direction to point the car on your adventure!


        Georgia Vocational and Trades School - Hwy. 11 just North of Walker Park Dr. about 3 miles north of
        Monroe.
        James Monroe - Broad Street one block south of courthouse in Monroe.
        Moore’s Ford Lynching  - US 78 and Rocklin Road at the Oconee County Line.
        The March to the Sea - Ga 11 at United Methodist Church in Social Circle.
        Walton County - Courthouse in Monroe.
        Seven Governors have lived in Walton County - City Hall Ga. 11 (Broad Street), Monroe.
        The Poppy Lady - Ga 83 at Moina Michael Road, southeast of Good Hope.
        Battle of Jack’s Creek - US Hwy. 78 and Ga 10 in Monroe. Placed by the DAR in 1925.
