“Dr. Franklin’s extensive experience as a
            teacher, administrator, principal, assistant su-
perintendent and superintendent has not only
a orded him a wealth of knowledge and a vast
organizational skill set, but has more impor-
tantly allowed him to sharpen his greatest gifts
of problem solving and relationship building,”
said Mike obison, principal of Loganville
            High School.
Franklin said he truly cherished his time as
            an educator and coach.
“Like most educators, I have always enjoyed
seeing that ‘aha’ moment when a student final-
ly grasps a concept,” Franklin said about his
time at the head of the classroom. “But more
importantly, I have always enjoyed helping
young people overcome adversity in their lives.
As a football coach and athletic director, I was
able to continue that e ort both in the class-
room and on the playing field. I was fortunate
to develop a great relationship with most of my
players during my time as a coach. Spending
years working with a team and going through
the ups and downs of life enabled me to forge
a bond with the coaches and players that most
people will never understand. That bond is
something special and is far beyond any math
concept that can be taught. I still hear from
many of my former players. They will call me
to wish me Happy Father’s Day every year.”
While Franklin admits he did not start his
career with the goal of becoming the super-
intendent of a school district, he received an
            educational specialist degree in administration
and leadership from Lincoln Memorial niver-
sity in 2 2. Two years later, his career track
started to shift away from the classroom when
he became an associate principal at orcross
High School. He became an assistant principal
at Loganville High School in 2 and in a
matter of a few months became the principal
when Hobbs left to become the superintendent
of the Walton County School District.
            “Like most

            educators, I have

            always enjoyed

            seeing that ‘aha’

            moment when a

            student finally grasps

            a concept.”
