Seeing that Franklin was such an asset, Hobbs made him an
assistant superintendent in 2012.
Franklin assumed his role as superintendent in 2016 and ad-
mits to missing the day-to-day interactions with students, cel-
ebrating their successes as well as working with them through
their adversities. Alan Satterfield, Carver Middle School
principal said that focus on students and helping teachers in
their quest for education excellence carried over into his roles
as assistant superintendent and now superintendent of Walton
County School District.
“Dr. Franklin’s biggest strengths are his clear and unwav-
ering focus on student achievement and his dedication to
improving all areas of the Walton County School District to
support student growth,” Satterfield said. “During my time in
Walton County, Dr. Franklin has consistently o ered support
for our schools and students. Knowing that the district has a
superintendent that is supportive and focused a ords everyone
the opportunity to be the best educator possible. Further, Dr.
Franklin challenges and encourages me and other administra-
tors to find new ways to continue to push the envelope.”
Susan Enfinger, principal at Youth Elementary School, said
it is Franklin s clear vision for the Walton County School
District that is one of his greatest strengths.
“He challenges, expects and leads us to provide the best
education possible for each student in our district,” she said.
“Dr. Franklin’s leadership and vision have encouraged me to
grow professionally and build relationships that will provide
the best resources and opportunities for the students, families
and communities I serve.”
