Cassini received the Humane Society Man of
the Year for his work and care for animals. He
created collections of manmade fashion fur, the
‘evolutionary furs’. In 1999, he was awarded the
Humanitarian Award at the Fashion Show and Gala
in Washington DC. He said, “What we’re designing
is as elegant and attractive as fur and eliminates
the enormous cruelty that goes
on in the killing of animals for fur.”

Q: What are some
things I can do to
help prevent me from
getting cancer? Dr. Robert Reynolds

A: There are more than 100 types of cancer in the world. Even though this is an
alarming number, by taking time to focus on cancer prevention, you can lower
your risk of getting cancer and many cancer-related deaths can be prevented.
Research has shown that more than 40 percent of all cancers diagnosed in the
United States can be attributed to preventable causes – things like smoking,
obesity, physical inactivity, and excessive exposure to the sun. As a result, steps
like quitting smoking (or never starting in the first place), maintaining a healthy
weight, exercising regularly, protecting your skin from the sun, and getting
vaccinated against the viruses that cause certain cancers can dramatically reduce
your risk of certain cancers.
Another important preventative step is making sure you get regular medical care.
Self-exams and screening for various types of cancers- such as cancer of the skin,
colon, cervix, and breast-can increase your chances of discovering cancer early, when
treatment is more likely to be successful. Prevention is the first step in fighting the battle
