larue county conservation district
The LaRue County Soil and Water Conservation
District works with local landowners to control soil erosion
and water pollution to improve the quality of the envi-
ronment. Established in 1943, the nonprofit agency is one
of 121 such districts in Kentucky and is a subdivision of
the state government. A seven-member board elected by
registered voters in the county governs the activities of the
conservation district by setting priorities for conservation
work to be accomplished and coordinating the federal,
state and local resources to carry out programs.
Housed in the LaRue County Farm Bureau building
for several years, the Conservation District moved its
offices to its current location at 306 West Main Street in
Hodgenville in 2015. District board meetings are held 7
p.m. on the second Thursday of each month.
