LaRue County Middle School has an enrollment of
approximately 600 students in 6th through 8th grade.
The school provides in-class and online access to all
students with laptops that students carry throughout the
school day.
Students are offered electives of chorus or band and
extracurricular activities include football, basketball,
wrestling, FFA, academic team, speech, drama, Math
Counts, Math Bowl, cheerleading, volleyball, cross
country, track and baseball. In 2018, the LaRue County
Middle School Academic Team won two team champi-
onships at the District Governors Cup competition and
the school’s speech team also took home multiple awards.

The Life Connection is a for-profit facility hous-
education ing state agency children placed through the
Commonwealth of Kentucky Cabinet for Families and
Children. Located in a country setting in nearby Sonora,
the program provides specialized education services, vo-
cational education services, case management services,
psychiatric services, and counseling services.
The school has approximately 40 students in grades
6-12 who have been placed by social workers; approx-
imately 75 percent of students have significant cogni-
tive deficits such as Mental Retardation or Borderline
Intellectual Functioning. The program’s goal is to transi-
tion students to foster care or their biological families.
