tomatoes sauces rule. Working from memory, they recreated
the recipes from The original restaurant. “All of the sauces
are either my Mom’s or Dad’s. My Mom still comes down
and tells me the sauce is too sweet or needs more basil. She
tells me straight up and I listen” Says Melilli. That is why our
sign says “Authentic Italian”.
The result is a broad menu of regional flavors. Their pizzas
are legendary and hand tossed as the name implies. Their
pasta dishes are delightful and the portions are huge. A full
array of soups and appetizers are offered along with a selec-
tion of hot and cold sandwiches. Crispy calamari served with
a delightful marinara and their huge cold Italian sandwich
are two of my favorites. Giving a nod to their Gulf Coast
location, they do marvelous things with shrimp.
Family friendly and a full service bar makes this a great
destination. On street parking can be a challenge but they
are on the trolley line if you prefer to choose that mode of
transportation.
