Want lunch or dinner? Jump to the seafood section of the
menu. Oysters, Shrimp, Fish, they have it all. You can have a
seafood dinner or opt for one of the overstuffed poboys.
Their gumbo is delicious with a deep dark roux and specially
cooked in New Orleans style steam pots. The “Lil Daddy” is
a large portion and sufficient for me, The “Big Daddy” is
enormous.
For the landlubber, there are an array of burgers, sandwiches,
salads and a very good chicken fried steak.

Galveston’s Gumbo Diner is where classic American Dining 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM daily
and New Orleans Flair meet the beach. Offering full South-
ern style breakfasts, an array of sandwiches, burgers and sal-
ads and hearty Cajun inspired seafood and gumbos insures
something for every taste and budget.
Living in beach towns in Florida in the 1980’s it seemed
there was a diner or coffee shop on every block. Not so in
Galveston. There are not many breakfast choices aside from
the fast food restaurants and a couple of national chains.
Bringing the first true American Diner experience to our
beaches in many years, the Gumbo Diner is a welcome ad-
dition to the Galveston Restaurant Groups family of locally
owned specialty restaurants.
Breakfast options abound. If your tastes includes meat and
eggs, you have hit the jackpot. Their combinations include
hash brown potatoes or creamy grits, eggs and omelets of
every kind, bacon, a huge hamsteak and delicious handmade
sausage. Pancakes of many types and toppings and delicious
waffles.
Want something spicy? Try their version of Mexico’s Hue- The Gumbo Diner
