version is a favorite of many.
The staff is always friendly, and Jack usually stops by. If
you see an alarming shock of white hair and a big smile,
say hello. Age 21 and above only. No Children. It is open
evenings only and can get smoky inside.

alveston Island has long been known for
its history of neighborhood bars and
gathering places. They are still there, it
just takes a bit of exploring to find them.
GThey are tucked away on neighborhood
corners and quiet streets a few short blocks from the
tourist areas. Here you will find the real Galveston and
meet the people that make the city function. Stevedores
from the docks, servers from the restaurants and physi-
cians from UTMB gather together after a long day and
relax.
One of the finest gathering places is Jack’s Pub. Located
at 24th and Post office it is close to the Strand and an
easy trolley ride or Uber from the beach hotels. Jack is
one of those bigger than life characters who boasts the
largest selection of Irish Whiskey in Galveston and has
the ruddy complexion to prove it!
You are never a stranger here. This is a place of easy
friendship and good conversation. In addition to the fine
selection of libations, this is also home to some of the Jack’s Pub
finest food In Galveston. Famous locally for their fried 2406 Post office Street
catfish, they also offer shrimp, pork chops a tantalizing
surprise chopped steak dinner and an array of sandwiches Galveston, Texas 77550
